The Durango-Silverton narrow gauge railroad was built in the 1880s. It was originally responsible for transporting silver and gold mined from the San Juan Mountains, but later it was changed to a tourist route for transporting passengers. Fortunately, it has retained a large number of original steam locomotives, and some vehicles even date back to the 1880s. (but for some reasons, the railway currently hopes to convert all eight steam locomotives in use to oil boilers by 2025)
